One of the biggest lessons tutor Claire taught us was that you only really need the primary colours to create any hue - including black. And the black made from the primaries in your painting is always going to read better because it has the same tones and basic hues. I always start with a set or primary colours and for a little treat I might add yellow ochre. Not only does your art sing but you will save a huge amount of your art budget. So why not grab your primes and have a go at making black - red, yellow and blue is all you need.
