Liz Porter
I am an Abstract Expressionist artist working from my studio in Bude, Cornwall. Since I was a child, I have experienced colours when I listen to music.
Through my painting I visually represent those colours and the emotional response I experience when listening to a piece of music. I work intuitively, exploring the combination of beat, lyrics, voice, melody and harmony of a piece of music, while working gesturally in bold colour palettes. I work mainly with mixed media on calico. I rarely use a paintbrush preferring to move paint with pieces of wood or my hands, layering the paint as the music plays creating a flow and energy to my work.

I work from my studio near Saltash in South East Cornwall. I find endless inspiration in the ever-changing and dynamic environment that surrounds me. I love the natural landscape of Dartmoor and I seek to create vibrant and atmospheric pieces that capture the essence of the place. I work primarily with acrylic and watercolour. Through my art, I hope to share my love for landscapes and inspire others to appreciate nature's beauty.
I have a background in education and have enjoyed art in the last ten years. I set up Furse Art five years ago and am a founding member of Maze Art. I have recently been commissioned to illustrate a children’s book. I sell my work through Heather Jane and Co Craft Cooperative in Tavistock Devon, as well as on my web site and social media. I have exhibited in Wales, Devon and Cornwall. www.furseart.co.uk furseart@gmail.com

I work from a small studio built from reclaimed farm materials, situated on organic farmland, that overlooks the South West Coast Path. I make expressive visual art with a passion for exploring relationships with nature. I'm currently studying for an Art and Design Practice degree at Cornwall College, University Centre.
“I am extremely fortunate to be surrounded by the wildness of North Cornwall. This habitat suits the creature in me! My subject matter is in the fields, cliffs, trees, people and skies where I live. Walking has a meditative effect on me, and I have some of my best ideas out on the coast path.
Being able to sketch and paint in the elements is an adventure and a privilege. I interpret what I see around me in the moment, often from life, combined with imagined forms and colours. I use sticks or feathers and other found objects, that I collect when walking, to make images. Sharing and learning with people, is very inspiring to me so being part of the Maze Art Collective is great. Understanding how people interpret life through art, feeds my work.”
So far I've exhibited and sold my work in Bude and Bideford. I regularly welcome visitors into my Morwenstow studio, where I also run workshops. - I run the Morwenstow Community Art group and organise local exhibitions to encourage inclusivity and art for wellbeing.

I live in the countryside, near the seaside town of Bude, in the rugged North of Cornwall.
My art is expressed through mixed media, mostly acrylic or pencil and watercolours. However, I love to experiment, combining different techniques to achieve sometimes unexpected effects, making the artistic journey an adventure.
Whilst I occasionally dabble in sculpture, photography has been a passion for many years. I travelled quite extensively in my twenties, and found inspiration for photography in the varied countries and cultures that I was lucky enough to visit. People are endlessly fascinating to observe, and I love the differences between cultures and traditions that bring colour, variety and a spiritual aspect to human existence. From the chubby loveliness of babies, to the way that we age into a wrinkly wealth of expression, people are never boring.
While people often figure in my work, more recently, I find fascination in the tiny natural world, trying to capture photographic images of insects as they go about their busy lives. Whether it is plant, animal or the human figure, I look for personality in subject matter, suggesting a narrative. My hope is that the onlooker will join me, and find enjoyment in contemplating their own interpretation.

Sue Binding
For me, being an artist is about making decisions - there's so much to create, so many stimuli and so much going on that the biggest challenge is to focus on one idea and tell a story. Currently I'm working on cyanotypes or sun prints as I like to call them - taking nature's energy and converting an object or scene into something quite different and interesting.
I work inside and out, depending upon the elements and always have the beauty of Cornwall as inspiration. As well as cyanotype printing I create abstracts in acrylic and collage - making my own papers and tissues for a truly unique finish.
I display my work on my own website www.suebindingart.com as well as local shows - the most recent being 'Breaking Out' Bude Castle in October 2024.
