In my practice I am always looking for ways to develop and transform traditional processes and find it thrilling when through experimentation, I discover something new.

Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique, which involves scratching a design into a surface such as plexiglass with a sharp point. Ink is then applied to the marks, before pressing the plate onto damp paper to produce the print. In this case I have combined the fine lines produced by this technique, with contrasting fluid ink washes. The result is a representation of the hues and form of the humble thistle, as it emerges into the grassland during early spring. Experimenting with print in combination with other mediums can produce unique and painterly images.
